"Entrance of IPGKPP"

In 1952, the British built two colleges in Malaysia. One was in Kota Bharu,Kelantan, called Kota Bharu Teachers’ Training College and another one was in Penang, called Penang Teachers’ Training College. Kota Bharu Teachers’ Training College was closed and the student teachers moved to Penang. Then Penang Teachers’ Training College (PTC) changed name to Malayan Teachers’ Training College (MTTC). Later it became known as Maktab Perguruan Persekutuan Pulau Pinang (MPPP) and now it is called Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Pulau Pinang (IPGKPP).

IPGKPP is located at Combee Hills in a beautiful valley and is surrounded by big and tall trees as old as over 100 years. It is also near Georgetown and within walking distance to banks, shops, mosques, temples and also churches. IPGKPP is a stone throw away from the Penang Lotus and Udini Mall.

There are ample of facilities in the campus. IPGKPP does not lack facilities for the student teachers. The classrooms are big and spacious, equipped with air conditioners, study tables and comfortable chairs. The library is packed with hard copies of latest books and digital ones too. There is also a cafe that serves delicious food at affordable prices. In the campus, there is a field, that is big enough to have inter college football matches.


When you are in IPGKPP, you will meet special and interesting people. The lecturers are friendly, helpful and comforting and the seniors are very supportive and respectful. We can also find friends who are trustworthy, reliable and fun-filled in IPGKPP.
